Primarily responsible for the cleanliness of the dishes, glasses, pots, pans, and utensils utilized during food service. Through teamwork assists other members of department in achieving departmental vision and goals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates dishwashing machine, in addition to the set-up and cleaning of machine.
  • Washes all dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, and pans in designated areas.
  • Stores clean dishes and utensils in designated areas.
  • Understands and complies with proper usage of chemicals and solvents.
  • Keeps equipment, floor, and work areas clean and in working order at all times.
  • Cleans all major kitchen appliances to include but not limited to oven, hood filter, braiser, and kettle.
  • Uses proper sanitizing procedures at all times.
  • Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in employee changing room/restrooms, and back-of-the-house employee areas, as well as the dumpster and receiving areas.
  • Empties trash frequently into the proper receptacles.
  • Assists in the storing of food product and supply items.

Other Functions

  • Assists in preparation of food as specified by Chefs.
  • Informs Lead Dishwasher or Executive Sous Chef when supplies are needed.
  • Operates within all established guidelines, policies, standards, and constraints as set by the Club.

Education and/or Experience                                           

No prior experience or training.


Language Skills                                            

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.


Mathematical Skills                                                  

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


Reasoning Ability                                                     

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.


Computer Skills                                            

  • None apply


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • ServSave Certification preferred

  • Good organizational skills.
