Summary

Responsible for supporting the accounting function to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and to maintain the fiscal integrity of the Club.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handles all fixed asset accounting including recording of assets, depreciation and disposals.
  • Oversees the collections process to ensure optimal cash flow and minimize delinquent accounts.
  • Works with the CFO to manage the Club's insurance program.
  • Tracks membership activity and the "Club Fund," which receives capital from membership sales and from which capital improvements are funded.
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations, and posts cash related journal entries.
  • Assists with monthly financial statement preparation.
  • Works with external auditors to include preparing schedules for year-end audit.
  • Assists with the budget process.
  • Reviews the general ledger for accuracy, and prepares or reviews journal entries as necessary.
  • Manages the billing and accounts receivable process.

Supervisory Responsibility

Assists Controller and CFO with supervision of two subordinate employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

      

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office; advanced Excel experience.
  • Prior experience using point-of-sale software preferred.
